Review: 4 STARS!!

Emma Douglas is a new author to me and I really enjoyed her writing!! This is a great book to start off a new series with. It was romantic, charming, passionate and emotional.

Faith is independent, hard working, doesn't play games, and loves her family. She is accustomed to the music industry and the behind the scenes action of it, and she loves her dad dearly, but she doesn't want that for her life. She like the quietness of her life and small town living with her mom and sister, but when Caleb enters her life, it is turned upside down, but in a good way.

Caleb is a star. Not a musician, but still in the limelight. He doesn't want to be in the media anymore, especially since he is retiring. He wants to relax and go to CloudFest (a big musical festival that Faith runs). I loved how honest Caleb was, he was very forthcoming about what he wanted and I think that tripped up Faith a bit, but then again, she was clear about what she wanted also. He never gave up on Faith, he was faithful and I loved that about him.

I honestly liked Caleb more than Faith. Faith made some hasty and not good decisions and then the resolution to those decisions was only like a couple of paragraphs and so I felt like she really didn't face any consequences for her actions. I also felt like she was naive about some aspects of her relationship with Caleb and I was just like, OPEN YOUR EYES!!! Then again, everyone can be naive about some aspects in their relationships with people, whether it be romantic or platonic.

Overall, this book was a good read, Faith just wasn't my favorite character. I am very excited for the next book in the series, it sounds like I might need a tissue box by my side, and that is just from the blurb!!

A Season of You releasing October 3rd!!

It's Christmastime in the quaint island town of Cloud Bay, where love is always in season...

Will Fraser has believed in love at first sight since the day he first laid eyes on Mina Harper five years ago. There was only one problem: She was happily married. Then, when Mina's husband was killed by a drunk driver, Will figured she'd want nothing to do with a guy who owns a whiskey distillery. So he's kept his feelings locked away, knowing that not even a Christmas miracle would be enough to melt Mina's heart.

Mina believes her days of true love are behind her. Since losing her husband she's kept to herself, content to do her own painting and stay out of the limelight that comes with her famous family. But when, after a freak accident, Will comes to her rescue, Mina can't quite get him out of her mind. As curiosity turns into a fling during Cloud Bay's first Christmas Festival, she finds it harder to convince herself that her feelings for Will are just mistletoe-inspired. Could Mina be ready to lay the past to rest and finally admit that what she really wants for Christmas--and forever--is Will?

Emma Douglas would love to live in a world where professional napping was a thing. But until then, she thinks writing books is a pretty awesome alternative. How We Deal With Gravity by Ginger Scott
NA Contemporary Romance

Blurb:
When her son Max was diagnosed with autism, Avery Abbot’s life changed forever. Her husband left, and her own dreams became a distant fantasy—always second to fighting never-ending battles to make sure Max was given opportunity, love and respect. Finding someone to fight along her side wasn’t even on her list, and she’d come to terms with the fact that she could never be her own priority again.

But a familiar face walking into her life in the form of 25-year-old Mason Street had Avery’s heart waging a war within. Mason was a failure. When he left his hometown five years ago, he was never coming back—it was only a matter of time before his records hit the billboard charts. Women, booze and rock-n-roll—that was it for him. But it seemed fate had a different plan in mind, and with a dropped record contract, little money and nowhere to go, Mason turned to the only family that ever made him feel home—the Abbots.

Avery loved Mason silently for years—until he broke her heart…completely. But time and life have a funny way of changing people, and sometimes second chances are there for a reason. Could this one save them both?

JB Salsbury – Fighting For Honor

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author JB Salsbury brings her Fighting series to Harper Sloan’s Hope Town in this Kindle Worlds exclusive, Fighting for Honor.

UFL fighter Caleb hasn’t been to Hope Town since he was eighteen. His next big fight takes place in Atlanta and the serene lakefront home from his childhood is the perfect place to train without distractions.

Until he stumbles downstairs to find a woman in his house. He’s met her before, and he’s never forgotten.

Honor was raised by her grandfather, Crazy Colonel Cartwright. Ostracized at a young age she was an outcast. Combined with her awkward personality and she became the local bully’s favorite plaything.

Honor and Caleb come face-to-face and feelings from fourteen years ago come rushing back—not all of them good.

She prefers to remain unknown, but she’s seen in public with the world’s most talked about fighter and thrust into a national spotlight that catches the attention of her childhood tormentors.

And they aren’t finished with her yet.

Felicia Lynn: How To Breathe

I can’t go back to the man I was any more than I can forget the memories locked inside me. Few men qualified for the mission and even fewer were willing to accept the required life sentence. Counting the days, good and bad, I exist as the world keeps spinning.

There’s a price to pay for a life with a greater purpose, but the healing of time is a damn liar. I’m supposed to be a dead man, and the silence couldn’t be more deafening. Even though I could never look back, I thought I’d taken enough out of that life to carry me forward. The success of the mission was meant to give the tragedy of my life meaning, but I’ve been stuck in this wreckage of my past . . . until now.

One look into her eyes disarms me. These walls I’ve built shouldn’t break on their own, but they crumble whenever she’s near. I’ve spent years waiting for a reason to breathe again, and now that I have her within reach, I’m not sure I can keep her. Is it possible to find both the missing piece of my soul and the remedy to my healing in one set of bright green eyes?
JM Walker: For You

Brogan Tapp tries to be strong. Guilt and fear that the man she loves will fall within himself and not know how to find his way out, haunts her.

Coby Porter vows not to let the demons in his mind take over. He plans a trip to save his relationship, once and for all.

Hope Town, Georgia is the saving grace for their love, before the nightmares consume them both.

SR Watson – Deliverance

Bleu Loren

My life has never been my own. I've always been a rule follower—the obedient girl who always did what she was told. I played the part given to me and got engaged to the man my parents set me up with. He was supposed to be my Prince Charming. He promised me a happily ever after, only he delivered a nightmare instead. Now I'm on the run. No money. No plan. Just freedom. How ironic is it that my desperate escape lands me in a place called Hope Town? I lost hope a long time ago.

Beau Rivers Lair

I'm a manwhore. It's a known fact and exactly how I like it. I make my own rules and live without expectations. Returning to Hope Town to help the woman who raised me with her restaurant meant my past was here to greet me, but I refuse to allow the mirage of possibilities to engulf me a second time around. I don't believe in love or fairy-tale endings. There's lust, and there's screwing. I don't have time for anyone or anything outside of these two principles. There is no hope for me. Accept it or not ... you've been warned!

Somethin’ Bad by Cat Mason

Tequila can make a woman do somethin’ stupid.
Somethin’ bad…

After celebrating my birthday with my best friends turns into the most embarrassing night of my life, the last thing I expected was to see him walk into my bakery. The sexy smile on his face lets me know that he has no intention of letting me off the hook either. He doesn’t want an apology or an explanation.

He wants me.

The way Matt Hudson crashes into my life and bosses me around as if he has known me all my life is frustrating. What’s even worse is the power he has to bring me to my knees with the flash of one his panty-melting smiles. He steals my control without even trying.

Makes me want.

Makes me need.

Even when my life begins to unravel right before my eyes, there is a part of me hoping that the man my friends have dubbed Hunk P.D. may be something good to come out of all my heartache.

Review for Wild Ride Cowboy by Maisey Yates

Title: Wild Ride Cowboy
Series: Copper Ridge: The Donnelly's #4
Author: Maisey Yates
Publisher: Harlequin
Published: August 29, 2017

Synopsis

He's come back to Copper Ridge, Oregon, to keep a promise--even if it means losing his heart...

Putting down roots in Copper Ridge was never Alex Donnelly's intention. But if there's one thing the ex-military man knows, it's that life rarely unfolds as expected. If it did, his best friend and brother-in-arms would still be alive. And Alex wouldn't have inherited a ranch or responsibility for his late comrade's sister--a woman who, despite her inexperience, can bring tough-as-iron Alex to his knees.

Clara Campbell didn't ask for a hero to ride in and fix her ranch and her life. All she wants is the one thing stubborn, honorable Alex is reluctant to give: a chance to explore their intense chemistry. But Clara has a few lessons to teach him, too...about trusting his heart and his instincts, and letting love take him on the wildest adventure of all.

Review: 5 STARS!!

This is one of my absolute FAVORITE cowboy series and with every book, it just keeps getting better and better!! I have been anxiously awaiting for Alex's book, because I just knew, his story was going to be a bit deeper and a bit darker than the rest of the Donnelly books, and I was right and I loved every second of reading it!!

Clara is lost. She lost her brother and has no other family left, so she is by herself on a ranch and she hasn't touched anything of her brothers, she hasn't even opened the mail. She doesn't want to deal with real life, because she knows she will be ripped open. Clara's character was very sweet but she was definitely naive about certain things and you could tell she was young, because of how her character thought. I loved the fact that she was young though, because Alex's life needed some vivaciousness in it and Clara was just the woman to do it.

Alex is very to himself. Very broody, guarded, messed up from his past and then from the war. He has seen things he wished he could scrub out of his mind, but he can't. When he inherits something from his best friend, falling in love with Clara wasn't part of the plan. Alex, I think, made her grow up. He was responsible and a hard worker, and I think that rubbed off on Clara. I also think Alex made her think more about things and he helped open her up, especially with her brothers death. Clara burrowed herself deep into Alex before he even realized it and it really was sweet how she fought for him and wanted to share his demons with him. She was there for him and wasn't scared to tell him when he was being an @$$.

These two characters started off rocky, but slowly turned into friendship then love. They each helped each other in some way, even in ways they didn't know they needed help with. I loved reading more about the Donnelly brothers' dynamic relationships and how Alex and Liam grew up (even though it wasn't pretty). I loved Sabrina and I am SO excited for her and Liam's book...it's gonna be a good one!!!

Maisey Yates is one of my favorite authors and she knows how to write a good slow burn romance that will have you on the edge of your seat and anxious for what is going to come next. This book is definitely one of my favorites in the Copper Ridge series and I can't wait for the next book!!

THE WILL

SOARING

EXCERPT:

Present day…

I took in the mess of the large, circular room we were in and at first saw nothing but the mess—decaying furniture, a soot-covered stone fireplace, a kitchen that might have been put in in the forties but had not only not been touched the last nine years, it perhaps had not been touched the last nineteen (or more).

Then I saw more.

The extraordinarily carved railing to the sweeping wood staircase that ran the curved side of the house. The red brick walls. The plank wood floors.

“Once upon a time, long ago,” the realtor was suddenly talking wistfully, “someone loved this place. Put that love into building it. Put that love into keeping it. Nine years and more when no one really gave a whit, and still you can see it once had a lot of love.”

Oh yes.

You could see that.

“It’s got a basement, more like a big crawl space,” the agent declared, surprising me with his quick change in tone back to businesslike and informative. “The furnace is down there. You can get down there through a door in the floor. The furnace was put in a while back, and full disclosure, though an inspection will catch it, it probably needs to be replaced.”

Through his words I stared at the fireplace, which scoured would be magnificent, and I noticed it didn’t have a chimney as such, but the smoke probably went out a vent in the wall.

“This floor has a powder room under the stairs,” the realtor kept on. “You can look at it if you want, but if you wanna save yourself that, I’ll just tell you straight, it needs to be gutted.”

I decided to take his word for it and told him that.

He looked relieved when I did before he stated, “Place has a garage, two car. Not in good condition, but think you saw that. Still, it’s close to the house and there’s a covered walkway to that door over there.” He pointed at a door that was across from the door we’d walked in. “Means you might feel a chill but you won’t get wet, unless it’s raining sideways, which happens.”

With a breeze that plastered my jacket to me on a sunny, early spring day, I did not doubt that.

“Garage has a loft space above it, which could be renovated as a studio rental if you’ve a mind to do that sort of thing. As for the property itself, it also has a building where the generators are stowed,” the realtor carried on. “Hook up for a washer and dryer and good space in there. Lots of it for storage. Which is good because there’s not a lot of storage in here for tools and Christmas decorations and whatnot.”

I glanced around seeing he was right. There wasn’t even enough cabinetry to house the things a decent cook would need in her kitchen. Though there was room for them. In fact, if you fought back the gloom, there was quite a bit of room.

“And there’s a place outside, could call it a studio, could call it a mother-in-law house,” he shared. “Whatever, it’s got goodly space, two bedrooms, big kitchen. Could be renovated to be a guest house. Or like I said, a studio if you’re artsy. Or you could rent it out like a B and B. I’ll show you all of that after we have a look at the lighthouse.”

“Thanks,” I replied.

“Now, since I mentioned full disclosure, you have to know it all,” the realtor continued.

Slowly, my eyes went to him.

When they did, he launched in. “Like I said, it’s automated. And like I said, you won’t really have to concern yourself with the functionality of that unless the electricity goes out, but then the generators automatically kick in. There are two. But you’ll need to keep fuel on hand to keep them going in case a blackout lasts awhile. And just to say, this is coastal Maine. We get weather. Blackouts can last awhile.”

When I nodded to share I took that in, he kept going.

“And if you’re, say, away on vacation, you need to make sure someone is playing backup in such a case.”

“Okay,” I replied when he stopped talking, thinking this probably wasn’t a good thing since I knew no one in Maine (or not anyone who wanted to know me) and thus couldn’t call on anyone to do something like that.

I also didn’t hold high hopes I’d make friends and win people. I hadn’t had a lot of success in that in my life.

And last, although Patrick believed it completely, I held no hope that the reason I was out there was going to come to fruition.

That being me having a happy ending.

That being what Patrick thought would be my happy ending.

Which might mean I’d have someone, a certain someone, or actually two (at least), even though I knew I never would.

About Kristen Ashley:
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning. Nothing's changed. Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Review: 5 STARS!!

EASTON IS HERE!!! I have loved Easton's character since Paper Princess and I have been SO anxious for his book and now that it is here and I have read it, it definitely did NOT disappoint!!!

Easton is so messed up. Honestly, I felt bad for him throughout Reed & Ella's books, but his book, man we get to see inside his head and it just made me so sad for him. It also made me hot for Easton, definitely love how dirty he is!! I loved seeing the deeper side of Easton. He feels deeply and he loves fiercely and hurts badly. Yes, he makes mistakes, quite a lot of them, but his friendship with Hartley is one of the best things that could have happened to him. She showed him a world where people work hard to make ends meat, she showed him that thinking before you do something is much smarter than doing something blindly. She also opened his mind and his heart to stop being so selfish and to start thinking of others before his self.

Hartley's story was a mystery that I kept trying to figure out throughout the whole book, and then when it was finally revealed, my heart went out to her. She is a tough chick and she does everything in her power to resist Easton, but his friendship, in my opinion, helped her also. These two characters have much more in common than one would think, and I loved the fact that Hartley wasn't scared to put Easton in his place. I think her tough love really took a toll on Easton and it showed him how much he really cared about Hartley. Easton's brand of friendship loosened Hartley up and brought a sense of laughter and light back into her life that I don't even think she realized was missing.

I absolutely LOVE the slow burn of this book. Now yes, there was attraction from the beginning and Easton had no problem voicing those attractions, but it was more than just lust. The slow burn came from being friends first, then proving to each other that they could be in each other's lives without messing it up, and then the fact that Easton had to grow up a little bit and Hartley was dealing with family issues. I feel like Easton & Hartley are on a whole different playing field than most kids their age and I think that is one of the many reasons I loved this book.

I LOVED seeing more of the twins and I HATE Lauren. Seriously, she can go away now!!! I loved the brotherly bond between the twins and Easton and then seeing a little bit of Gideon and Reed just rounded out everything Royal. The ending of this book will have you gasping for air and yelling, I should know because that is exactly what I did. Erin Watt did a wonderful job with Easton & Hartley's characters and they did a wonderful job with this story and I CANNOT WAIT FOR CRACKED KINGDOM!!!
