Synopsis

EVERYTHING'S HOTTER IN TEXAS

When Marine Force Recon Captain Cullen Loughman learns that his father's been kidnapped, he will do whatever it takes to find him. In order to achieve his mission, Cullen will need to team up with the best of the best--someone who just happens to be the most stunning woman he's ever laid eyes on...

This isn't the first rodeo for ex-Air Force pilot Mia Carter. Still, Cullen's bad-boy good looks and charm are distracting her from duty...and it appears that the feeling is mutual. As Mia and Cullen make the decent into a dark, dangerous world, their attraction reaches the boiling point, but is their desire worth the risk when a ruthless enemy is waiting in the wings--or will their Lone Star love conquer all?

5 STARS!!

What a FANTASTIC book by Donna Grant!! The Protector is the second book of the Sons of Texas series, and I definitely recommend reading The Hero first. This book was filled with action, suspense, passion & mystery.

In the first book, The Hero, the Loughman brothers lose communication with Cullen and in this book, we get to see why, plus some. Cullen in the youngest of the Loughmans, but he certainly doesn't act it. He is protective, strong, smart and is plagued with indecision. When he meets, Mia, his whole world is turned upside down. Mia is strong willed, determined, sexy, smart and one heck of a pilot. Together, these two embark on an adventure that will change both of their lives forever.

Together, Mia & Cullen try and put the puzzle pieces together about the secret organization, The Saints while trying to find Orrin, the Loughmans brothers dad. I loved how Mia was in the thick of everything and never wanted to be left out. She was loyal to Orrin and his disappearance and the murder of his team, really hit her hard. Cullen never experienced the feelings that Mia brings out in him. Even though his brothers tried to shield Cullen from the nightmare of their mother's death, it affected Cullen in ways it didn't affect Wyatt or Owen. It left scars on his heart and without meaning too, he let Mia in and showed his scars.

Mia has scars of her own and when she told her story to Cullen, my heart broke for her and what she was put through, but it also left me loving Orrin's character that much more. Together, these two scarred souls helped heal each other and move on. The dangers that Cullen & Mia faced in this book had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails because I was so nervous. I love the fact that each of them are so protective of each other and the passion between them was tangible, even in the face of evil, their passion never dimmed.

This is honestly one of my favorite series by Donna Grant. There is no way you can start this series and not get sucked into the story and get hooked to the characters. There are so many unanswered questions and there are so many possibilities for outcomes that I am SO anxious for the next book to see what happens!!
