Review for Never Trust a Pirate by Valerie Bowman

Title: Never Trust a Pirate
Series: Playful Brides #7
Author: Valerie Bowman
Publisher: St. Martin's Paperbacks
Publish Date: May 2, 2017

The rules of engagement were never so scandalous...

A rumored pirate and the scurrilous black sheep of his well-to-do family, Cade Cavendish relishes his world of rebellion, deception, and seduction. Nothing and no one can hold him to be the duty-bound, honorable man he is expected to be. But when an unexpected run-in at his twin brother's estate with a ravishing, raven-haired maid leads her to believe he's actually a viscount, Cade's renegade life is thrown wildly off-kilter. And even though a case of mistaken identity can be quickly set to rights, matters of the heart are quite different...

Miss Danielle LaCrosse is startled to learn that the handsome gentleman who radiates sin and has the devil in his eyes is not her employer the Viscount, but rather his infamous brother. A former heiress, orphaned and left penniless, Danielle has more than a few secrets of her own. Cade may be skilled at coaxing even the most hidden desires out of Danielle but can he earn her trust--and win her heart--as they embark on an adventure to confront a dangerous enemy from both of their pasts...and uncover the identity of the so-called Black Fox along the way?

Review: 5 STARS!!

This is the first book by Valerie Bowman that I have read and I aboslutely LOVED it!! So, come to find out, this is the 7th book of the Playful Bride series, but let me tell you, it can be read as a standalone, because I was not confused or lost or anything. Meeting the characters just made me want to go back and read all of the previous books, which is what I plan on doing!!

Cade & Danielle were great characters with an adventurous story!! I loved the mysteriousness surrouning both characters, yet the openness that they both exuded when they were with each other. The banter between them was funny, sexy, playful & I loved the easiness they both felt towards each other as soon as they met. Cade was always seen as the blakc sheep in his family, but he has such honor and respect. It hurt my heart that people didn't give him the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time, he played the black sheep role well. Danielle, was a heartbroken girl on a mission to bring down the man who broke apart her family and my heart hurt for her too. I loved Danielle's comapssion and love for her mother and how she had never had friends before she started working for Lady Daphne. Cade & Danielle were similar in more ways than one but they were both guarded and I loved watching these two break down each other's walls.

This book definitely had me on the edge of my seat and my head spinning with trying to figure out who was actually who and what was going to happen next. Valerie Bowman took me on a wild, adventurous, sexy & passionate ride with this book and I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out in October!!
