He's one bad apple she just can't resist…

Kennedy Sinclair never dreamed she'd own a pie shop and an orchard in a small town like Destiny Bay. But nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it's the perfect place to cross something off her "Life's short so eat the icing first" list and start her life over from scratch. Her shop, Sweetie Pies, is famous for its hot, flaky apple turnovers and sinfully delicious deep dish pie. For Kennedy though, nothing is more enticing than the tall, strapping slice of temptation who keeps coming back for more.

Luke Callahan is determined to make his hard cider business a success. With his beloved father's cider recipe and the opportunity of a lifetime in his grasp, he'll stop at nothing to get this deal done. There's just one catch: he needs Kennedy's apples. At first, he thinks it'll be as easy as pie to charm those apples right off her trees. But Kennedy isn't falling for his tender charms or his wicked ways. When the negotiations start heating up, so do the feelings they have for each other. And it takes just one kiss to seal the deal…

Kennedy rested her elbows on the counter and leaned forward. “You cook, clean, and make house calls? Be still, my heart.”
“I aim to please.” He dried off his hands and brought two steaming mugs of coffee to the counter. “Which is why I was trying to be quiet, so you could get another few minutes of sleep, before I surprised you in bed.” He grinned. It was a wicked grin. “Again.”
Luke had done more than surprise her last night; he’d spoiled her for other men. Sure, he was an incredible lover, but it was the tender moments in between that made her nervous.
This thing between them couldn’t last. She knew that. She also understood that if he was looking for something more permanent, she wouldn’t be the kind of woman to inspire that kind of commitment. She was unable to do it with her perfect match, or even her own mother. The one person who was supposed to love her unconditionally. Which left Kennedy painfully afraid that she was missing that elusive quality that led to forever.
Finding out that she was right, that she was unlovable, from a man who obviously had an incredible capacity to love, as she’d seen with his friends and family, would be too painful to survive. So she took the moment for what it was, committing to memory the warm aroma of the coffee, the way the sun cast a glassy haze over the kitchen, and the sleepy expression on his face that made him look softer. More relaxed. Like this was where he was supposed to be.
In this kitchen—with her.
Kennedy was becoming more attached—she could feel it. The way he treated her, the way he made her feel, even the way he looked at her, like right now, as if she were special. Which made her feel special.

Review: 5 STARS!!

This is the first book by Marina Adair that I have read and I loved it!! This book is the first in her new series, Destiny Bay and it was a sweet, humble & loving story.

Kennedy is one of those characters that you just want as a your best friend. I seriously just wanted to jump into the book and give her a big hug and tell her that everything will be okay. She has had a life filled with disappointments and no one on her side, aside from her grandmother. Kennedy is kind & sweet yet feisty. She tries to resist Luke, but that man is too charming for his own good.

Luke is feeling guilt for not being there for his family when they needed him, so to try and make it up to them, he is going after some heirloom apples, which happens to be what Kennedy is after. Luke is very driven and goal orientated, but meeting Kennedy and her knocking him off kilter was not part of the plan. I loved wacthing Luke bring Kennedy happiness and showing her that people won't always disappoint her, but will he end up doing just that for some apples?

The banter between these two characters was sexy, witty & funny. The chemistry that flowed between these two characters was hard to ignore, even though that is what they tried to do at first. I loved the writing style of Marina Adair; it flowed well and had me captivated with the story and characters. I am very excited for the next book in this series!!

Review & Excerpt Tour for The Debt by Karina Halle

The Debt AMAZON
Her life changed in an instant.

And he's the only one who could have prevented it.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Pact and The Lie comes a new standalone contemporary romance about those McGregor men.

Jessica Charles shouldn't have even been in London when the unthinkable happened.

She should have been back at home in Edinburgh, perhaps hanging with her boyfriend, having drinks with her sister or doing yoga with her group of friends. She should have been going on in her normal, dependable life as always.

But on that fateful day in August, when a mentally-ill ex-soldier opened fire in public, Jessica's world changed forever.

Now single and crippled from the gunshot wounds, Jessica finds herself scared and alone, losing faith in herself and humanity with each agonizing moment that passes.

That is until a stranger enters her life. A stranger who makes her live again.

Keir McGregor has always been the strong, silent type. Throw in tall, dark, and handsome and you've got pretty much the perfect Scotsman.

Except Keir is anything but perfect. He's got a past he's running away from and a guilty conscience he can't seem to shed. But the more time he spends with Jessica, the more he falls in love with her.

And the more his secret threatens to tear them apart.

He may have been a stranger to her.

But she’s never been a stranger to him.

“You’re not going anywhere,” he says. “Sit. I’ll get you another drink.”

“It’s getting late,” I say feebly but I sit down anyway, my leg giving a protest of pain.

“You need something for that?” he says, noticing my wince.

“The scotch will do fine,” I tell him quickly, not wanting him to make a fuss. “But really, I should go.”

“Why?” he asks from the kitchen. I hear the top pop off the bottle, the slosh of liquid in the glass. “Where do you have to be?”

I have to think about that for a moment. He comes over and holds out the glass. “I won’t keep you here if you don’t want to be here. But if you do want to be here, you don’t need to make any excuses.”

I take the glass from him, holding it delicately in my fingers. He stands over me, a massive wall, waiting for some kind of response.

“I just…” I begin. “I…” I take a sip for bravery. Swallow. “I’m not very good at this.”

 “Good at what?”

 “At…this. Being with a man.”

When he doesn’t say anything to that, I look up at him. He’s got a peculiar smile on his face, his brows raised. “You call this being with a man?”

I clear my throat, feeling my cheeks grow hot. “I mean. I’ve told you before –”

“Yes, how you don’t do relationships, how you don’t do sex.”

“I never said I don’t do sex,” I remind him quickly.

His eyes never stop searching my face. “Then what is it? What are you afraid to say?”

I have the sudden urge to flee and I know it must show because he suddenly points at me and says, “Don’t you dare say you have to go again. I want you to go back to what you said, that you’re not good at this. What is this? Us? You and me? There’s nothing mystifying about you and me, Jessica. You know quite well how I feel.”

I stare at him in shock. I do? “How?”

He looks off with an air of impatience. “I invited you to dinner, you turned me down.”

“But then you said just as friends.”

“And I meant it. But there are different types of friends. It’s up to you to decide what kind we are.”

I put my drink down with a clunk. “Holy pressure.” And now it’s not just my face going hot but my entire body, flushed from head to toe.

“You’re on fire, little red,” he says, his gaze skirting over my limbs in such a hungry way I can almost feel them on my skin. “I have to say, I like this look on you. Hot and bothered.”

“Back with the innuendos again,” I comment but my voice is weak.

“No, no innuendos this time. You came looking for me tonight not because you wanted to confess but because you want something from me. What is it? What do you want from me? What do you think I can give you?”

Jesus. This is so utterly unnerving. His words slice right through me, his eyes still peeling under the layers, trying to get at something I’m not even sure of myself.

If I lie, he’ll know. I can only be honest with him.

 “I want…” I take in a deep breath, my eyes breaking away. “I want…company.”

 “Company?” He sounds surprised.

I nod. “That’s the truth. I’m lonely. And I’m afraid. And I’m tired of being both those things. I want to be with someone who makes me forget who I am. You make me feel fearless in a way I didn’t think possible.”

There. That’s the truth. Most of it. It hangs in the air, thickening the tension like flour to stock.

He sits down next to me, has a mouthful of Scotch. “Wow,” he says, running his hand over the beard on his jaw. “And here I was thinking you wanted my cock.”

I burst out laughing. So does he, a big wonderful bellow. The tension in the room eases up a notch.

“Sorry,” I tell him when I catch my breath. “I guess they can both mean the same thing.”

He sucks in his lip briefly, his eyes taking a lustful turn. “If you want it to.” We stare at each other for a few heavy beats. Then his focus trails back to my gaze and he says, “Why don’t you stay over?”

And there I have it. The chance to know what those full lips would feel like on mine, what his skin would taste like. I swallow hard.

Review: 5 STARS!!

Oh this book was phenomenal!!! Karina Halle knows how to write a book that will break your heart & have your heart pounding!! Keir & Jessica are some of my favorite characters that Karina Halle has written.

Jessica has been through such a traumatic event, that honestly I wouldn't even know how to process if it had happened to me. She doesn't feel beautiful or strong anymore, but she so is. The fact that she just gets up in the morning and goes about her day and goes to meetings for help, shows how much strength she actually has. Keir brings out the Jessica that is hiding underneath all of the insecurities. She is spunky, feisty, protective & caring. She felt compassion for a man who changed her life forever and that takes some heart and humanity.

Keir is eaten up daily with guilt and remorse. I understood where he was coming from, but at the same time, I felt so bad that he put all of those burdens on his shoulders, when it wasn't his fault. Jessica was the light in his dark world, and she brought out the man that he truly is. Keir loves hard, is such an alpha and I loved that he pushed Jessica, but didn't push her too much, just enough that she could handle. Keir was freaking swoon worthy, seriously that man knew how to talk dirty and yet at the same time be so sweet. I loved that he was blunt and didn't just say things to make you feel better, because honestly, he knew more what Jessica was going through than anyone.

Together, these two characters had a passion and chemistry that burned bright throughout the whole book. They helped each other, protected each other & loved each other. I loved seeing the McGregor clan in this book and meeting new characters!! Karina Halle really took my emotions for a ride in this book. I laughed, cried, swooned, had some "WTF" moments and there were times where I was on the edge of my seat. I really loved this book and I cannot wait to see what Karina Halle comes out with next!!

He told me to 'settle, girl.'
He asked if 'something was wrong with me?'
He said I was an ‘easy target.’
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.

He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.

Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.

I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what would happen if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?

He wasn’t looking at me any more. I wasn’t even sure he was really in the room.
I needed to leave this alone. He had given me the clues—looking away, his jaw clenching, pain like I’d never heard from him sounding loud and clear. My instincts were telling me to shut up, but I couldn’t. I had this burning need to know more about Caden. I needed to get in there, past his walls, and I wanted to understand him.
I wanted to help him.
Caden was hurting, and I wanted to take that away.
“What happened?”
Caden turned his gaze to me now, and I felt branded by the pain I saw. His eyes were stricken. “Does it matter?”
“No.” My breath caught and held in my chest. I wanted to go to him, but I also wanted to slink away. I was stirring up his pain, but I had to know. “What happened, Caden?”
“Why do you have to know?”
“Because it’s hurting you.”
I made a decision, though I had no idea what the ramifications were going to be. I stood, my legs going numb and my stomach clenching, and I moved to his side. He leaned back, his head falling to the couch, and he watched me.
The need to ease some of his hurt outweighed the fear of what would happen next. Swallowing tightly, I stepped over to straddle him and sat down.
“What are you doing?”
He asked that softly, still holding his beer. I took it from his hands and put it on the stand next to the couch. Then I just sat there. He had to do the rest. I’d already made the first move.
I glanced down at his hands, feeling like an idiot. “What happened?”
“Why are you pushing this?”
I looked back up to find confusion warring with need in his eyes. He wasn’t pushing me away, so I sank further into his lap.
“You haven’t told anyone else about this.” It wasn’t really a question, but I saw the confirmation in his eyes. My chest tightened, thinking about whatever secret he held. “Please tell me.”
“No.” He shifted forward, and I braced myself, expecting him to push me away. He didn’t. His hands grasped the backs of my legs and lifted me so I was more fully on his lap.
I could feel him between my legs, and my breasts almost pressed against his chest. I waited. I wanted to see what else he’d say
“But not because I don’t want you to know,” he added. “Because it’s not my secret to tell.”
I nodded, my stomach doing somersaults now. “That makes sense. I can respect that.”
And there we were. His hands cupped my ass, and the pain in his gaze became something darker, something I felt too, something that began to turn off all rational thought.
“What are we doing here?” he questioned, his voice like a caress in itself.
I leaned forward, my gaze lingering on his lips. “I didn’t really think it through.”
“And now?”
“Still not thinking it through.”
“You’re okay with that?”
In that moment, the truth exploded in me. I wanted him. I wanted this—but it was more. I needed this.
I didn’t answer.
I closed the distance between us.

Review: 5 STARS!!

Tijan does it again!! This book was fantastic & I loved Caden & Summer's characters. Tijan wrote a beautiful friends to lovers romance!!

Summer is quirky, quiet, shy & a little broken over her grief. Her train of thoughts and where she would steer a conversation had me laughing. She is such a kind person and I wanted to throat punch Kevin a few times. I loved that Summer didn't listen to other people's opinions and stood for what she thought was right. I loved how carefree she was with Caden and how she accepted him and his family for who they were and not just because they were hot.

Caden has a lot of stress on his shoulders and I felt bad for him. Summer was his light in the darkness and I loved that he peeled back Summer's layers and saw her for the beautiful person that she was. I loved how mysterious & broody Caden was, it seriously just added to his already appealing personality. I loved his relationship with his brother Colton and was there for his family and Summer whenever they needed.

I really loved that these two characters developed a true friendship before they took their relationship to a physical level. Caden & Summer were two people who were a little broken, but they fit perfectly together. I loved Marcus, Avery, Colton & Diego. I loved that there was another little story line and romance between Marcus & Avery. Tijan did a great job writing an enticing story line and characters who you were cheering for throughout the whole book!! I am very excited to see what Tijan comes out with next!!

Author Information

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

Release Day Blitz & Review for Winner Takes All by Erin Kern

Title: Winner Takes All
Author: Erin Kern
Series: A Champion Valley Series
On Sale: August 30, 2016
Publisher: Forever
Formats: Mass Market & eBook
Price: $6.99 USD (MM) / $6.99 USD (eBook)

Money. Fame. Endorsements. Blake Carpenter had it all—before his professional football career spiraled out of control. Determined to rebuild his life, he takes on coaching the high school team in his Colorado hometown. Despite a few fumbles, Blake knows he can lead these boys to victory. As long as he can keep his eyes on the prize and off the team's distractingly gorgeous physical therapist.

Annabelle Turner knows all about the scandal that cost Blake his NFL career, and she'll be damned if she's going to let his mistakes hurt her team. What she doesn't count on is the intense attraction that turns every heated run-in they have into a wildly erotic competition. Point by point, play by play, kiss by kiss, they try to keep things professional for the good of the team. But when the score is this close—and the passion this fierce—it's anybody's game . . .

The parking lot was almost empty as Blake left the field-house after the team’s win. He strolled toward his truck, keys dangling from one hand and his gym bag in the other. As he approached, he noticed a figure leaning against the driver’s side door.
A petite, luscious figure in a pair of tight jeans and a Blanco Valley High hooded-sweatshirt.
Just the sight of Annabelle turned his body on high alert. Over the past week, Blake hadn’t been able to get their kiss out of his mind. Not only the feel of her lips pressed to his, but how perfectly her body fit with his. Each one of her curves had molded seamlessly against his harder and bigger one, as though they were two pieces of the same puzzle.
And look at him with all the lame metaphors.
Blake approached the truck, twirling his keys around in his hand. Because if he didn’t keep them busy, he’d yank her away from the door and kiss her again.
“Hi,” she greeted when he stopped in front of her.
He tossed his bag in the bed of the truck. “Hey,” he replied. “You’re here awfully late.”
“I wanted to hang around and congratulate some of the kids. You guys played a good game tonight,” she told him.
“Thanks.” And why did her praise have to mean so much to him? The parents and the school district was what mattered. Not some hazel-eyed opinionated goddess.
Annabelle scraped the toe of her tennis shoe along the ground. And for some reason Blake found the movement endearing.
He was turning into such a pussy.
“Blake,” she said on a sigh. She pushed away from the truck and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’m sorry,” she told him. “About before.”
“For what?” he wanted to know. “The kiss or the apology?”
She blinked at him and inhaled a deep breath. “For the way I acted afterward,” she clarified. “To be completely honest, I’m not sorry for kissing you. I thought that maybe…” Her words trailed off. “I thought I had taken you off guard and acted inappropriately. I didn’t want you to think I was being too forward. The sorry just kind of popped out before I could think.”
Blake pocketed his keys. “You did take me off guard. But that didn’t mean I didn’t like it as much as you did. I think we both know I did.” She’d been pressed up against him hard enough to feel the evidence between his thighs.
As though sensing his thoughts, Annabelle’s gaze dropped down, lingering long enough to elicit a reaction. “I think it’s safe to say we both liked it. A lot,” she added. “Probably too much, actually.”
“And how much is too much?” Because that was part of his confusion.
One of her shoulders moved. “To be honest, I’m not sure. I’m still trying to figure that one out.”
“Maybe we should try it again, just to see,” he suggested.

Review: 5 STARS!!

This is the first book that I have read by Erin Kern and I absolutely loved it!! Erin Kern wrote a brilliant sports romance story that captured my attention right from the beginning.

Annabelle is a physical therapist and takes her job very seriously. She is a strong & proud woman. She cares deeply for the football team she works for and she is has no problem giving Blake as good as she got. When she meets Blake, she feels things that she doesn't want too, but at the same time, Blake shows her a side of himself that he doesn't show a lot of people. Annabelle needs to have control and everything needs to be done her way, and that is a definite challenge where Blake is involved.

Blake is a retired pro football player because of a scandal and now he is coaching the high school football team, who haven't won in 18 seasons!! I felt for Blake, because it wasn't that he was a bad person, his medical team just gave him the drugs for his ACL and that is that. Blake now has to prove to everyone that he is here and staying and is going to coach this team to a win. He is drawn to Annabelle and loves her attitude, but they clash because they are both stubborn and want things done their own way.

I loved that Erin Kern took her time to develop Blake & Annabelle as characters and as a couple before their relationship took that next step of intimacy. I loved that these characters had a connection as strong as theirs and I loved watching Annabelle strip Blake down until he was his true self and vulnerable. I am very excited to see what Erin Kern comes out with next!!
